Maurice

Maurice Povoden - Biography

These are all traits that become quickly apparent when meeting Mo for the first time. His love for life, the mountains, the lifestyle, is very obvious and almost contagious. As he will say, all these positive character traits are due to the fact he’s very grateful for many things in his life. Whistler – its beauty, its people, its “vibe” – has been a place where Mo will sincerely say many of his life’s changes have occurred; all of which have been extremely positive and very well worth it!

Mo grew up in Ontario in the small town of Kleinburg outside of Toronto. Shortly after finishing high school and spending some time in Europe with his family, “Maurice” (as his family still call him) made the move to Victoria, BC for his education in Commerce and Finance. He never looked back. Having been a skier since the time he was a near toddler, being in close proximity to the Coastal Mountains in addition to all the natural beauty the West Coast had to offer were huge factors in his permanent pilgrimage west.

In the early 90’s, Mo bought a small condo in Whistler as an investment and a place to stay during his regular, lengthy visits from the island. Not too long after that, a permanent move was made, and much like his move from Ontario to British Columbia, the move from Victoria to Whistler was another in which he never looked back. He became involved as a professional in the business community while pushing his personal envelope as an athlete on the slopes - the “perfect balance” as he always describes it.

Moving into a career in real estate was natural for Maurice. He knows the area, knows the market and its products, understands economies and investing, and most of all - loves working with people. It was this latter aspect of real estate that truly solidified Mo’s decision to become a realtor in Whistler – the people. Being able to offer his services, his personality, and his unique style to buying and selling property in his home area to locals as well as an international demographic of clients was Reason No. 1 that today, Mo is a realtor.

Outside of his career as a realtor, Mo spends his time skiing, mountain biking, golfing, swimming and surfing. He’s grateful to be able to share his wonderment of this area and its natural splendor with his wife Kaili and his daughters Teia & Rio. His love for his family, passion towards a healthy, active lifestyle, love for music and art, interest in cultures and Eastern philosophy - round out a great, balanced existence for Mo.
